Education

Education is the ongoing life/work of disciples of Jesus Christ.

Quotes from a couple of wise men sum up what disciples of Jesus Christ must bear in mind as they live and minister in this world, “The education of a man is never completed until he dies” and “education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” This is because Jesus said, "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.” Jn 6:63, and “But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." Matt. 4:4. This is why Jesus came to establish “disciples” and sent his followers out to make “disciples”.

“The Great Omission” Dallas Willard

“A disciple is a learner, a student, an apprentice, --a practitioner…disciples of Jesus are people who do not just profess certain views as their own but apply their growing understanding of life in the Kingdom of the Heavens to every aspect of their life on earth…The disciple is one who, intent upon becoming Christ- like and so dwelling in his “faith and practice”, systematically and progressively rearranges his affairs to that end. By these decisions and actions, one enrolls in Christ’s training and becomes a pupil or disciple. There is no other way.”

Because Gods Word is Spirit and Life, God has called His people to be disciples, always learning and abiding in His Word/Life, “Abide in Me, and I in you”,… " apart from Me you can do nothing "...“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you ”…Jn.15. Education in God's Word is therefore the ongoing life/work of disciples of Jesus Christ.
